Surplus wire buying in Eagle, Idaho

A Boise suburb of acreage lots, horse properties and custom houses built on former irrigated farmland.

Eagle grew from a farm town on the north edge of the Boise metro into a suburb of large lots, custom houses and small commercial centers. The older parcels still have wells, pumps and ditch rights; the new ones have oversized service laterals, subpanels and detached shops. Contractors working both ends of that spectrum end up holding leftover wire in sizes that do not match the next job.

Acreage wells, backyard shops and service upgrades

On the older five-acre parcels the recurring work is a well pump replacement or a shop building added behind the house. That means submersible pump cable in 10 and 8, a length of USE-2 run in a trench out to a detached garage, and grounding conductor that has to be extended to a new panel because the original electrode was never bonded properly.

New construction on the bench is the other half: 400-amp service laterals, long THHN pulls through large conduit, and a fair amount of exterior and landscape lighting wire left over when a design changes mid-build. Remodels strip out old two-wire branch circuits, which come out as short coils that are hard to reuse and rarely worth stripping on their own.

Logistics

Eagle has no interstate of its own. State Highway 44 runs east-west through the old town center, and Eagle Road carries traffic south to the interchange at I-84, roughly eight miles away. Deliveries go to driveways and gravel aprons rather than docks, and gated communities on the bench want a name and a gate code before a truck passes the entrance. Spring is mud season on unpaved drives, and summer irrigation keeps the ground soft along the ditch banks, so a loaded trailer may not be able to leave the pavement. Photograph the reel or coil where it sits, the tag, and the driveway approach, since most of this material is picked up off a garage or shed floor rather than a loading dock.
