Idaho industries that hold surplus wire

Wire accumulates wherever electricity is installed and then changed. These are the kinds of operations where it happens most often in Idaho, and the material each one tends to leave behind.

Naming an industry is not a claim about any particular company. We do not imply relationships, endorsements or purchase history with facilities we have not worked with, and none of the descriptions below assert that a named business has surplus inventory.

Agriculture and food processing
Dairies, grain elevators, food and beverage plants, cold storage and agricultural equipment dealers. Motor and feeder cable, submersible pump cable, washdown-rated flexible cord and process control cable.
Semiconductor, electronics and technology
Advanced manufacturing, electronics assembly and data center facilities. Tray cable, shielded control cable, grounding conductor and large feeder runs from fit-outs and expansions.
Mining, minerals and metal processing
Mining operations, mineral processing and metal finishing. Heavy feeder cable, medium-voltage distribution cable and trailing cable from equipment rebuilds.
Lumber and wood products
Sawmills, plywood and engineered wood plants. Tray cable, VFD cable for drive retrofits, control cable and heavy feeder cable in wet, dusty environments.
Electric utilities and power generation
Utilities, hydroelectric facilities, transmission and distribution contractors and renewable-energy projects. Medium and high-voltage cable, concentric neutral and URD.
Industrial manufacturing and fabrication
Machine shops, metal fabricators and equipment manufacturers. Building wire, welding cable, flexible cord and control cable in small but frequent quantities.
Commercial construction
General contractors, electrical subcontractors and developers. THHN, XHHW, MC cable, tray cable and low-voltage cable left from tenant improvements and new builds.
Healthcare and institutional facilities
Hospitals, clinics, universities and government buildings. Plenum-rated control and fire alarm cable, healthcare-grade MC and redundant feeder cable.
Telecommunications and data infrastructure
Telecom sites, network facilities and structured-cabling contractors. Cat5e through Cat6A, coax, fiber-adjacent low-voltage cable and grounding conductor.
Warehouses and distribution centers
Third-party logistics, grocery distribution and industrial suppliers. Racking power, lighting circuits, conveyor control cable and service-entrance conductor.
Demolition, decommissioning and plant maintenance
Demolition contractors, decommissioning crews and in-house maintenance groups. Cable pulled from service — often older constructions, frequently in quantity.

Common patterns

Why surplus builds up

  • Over-ordering by reel. Wire ships in 500 and 1000 foot lengths. The job needs 640 feet.
  • Design changes. A feeder gets resized after the reels are on site.
  • Cancelled phases. Half a project is built and the rest never starts.
  • Decommissioning. Cable comes out of service with years of usable material left.
  • Slow-moving stock. Distributors carry sizes that stopped selling two years ago.

Send the details from your facility

If you are clearing a plant, a warehouse or a job trailer, describe the whole lot. Mixed material is normal and we will sort it out from the photos.

1. Who is sending this

2. Where the wire is

3. What the wire is

4. Details and access

5. Photos of the wire

Up to 12 images, 12 MB each. Most phones are set to shoot more than that, so resize if a photo is rejected.

  • A wide shot of the whole stack or row of reels
  • The reel tag or label, photographed flat and readable
  • The jacket legend printed on the wire
  • The cut end, so the conductor and insulation are visible

Submitting does not commit you to anything. If photos will not upload, email them to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com or call (614) 715-3047.

Reels in the way? Send the tag photos.

Tell us the type, size, footage and voltage, and send a few photos of the reels, tags and jacket legend. We will review the material and talk through pricing and logistics.
