Flexible cable

Flexible cable and portable cord

Rubber-jacketed portable cable that gets ordered by the reel and used ten feet at a time: SOOW, welding cable, festoon loops, pump cable and temporary power drops.

What flexible cable covers

SOOW and SJOOW are the portable cord families: two to five flexible conductors in a tough rubber jacket, used for temporary power, tools, motors and equipment connections. Welding cable is a finely stranded single conductor built for flex and current. Festoon and submersible pump cable are specialty constructions with their own flex requirements.

What we buy

  • SOOW, SJOOW and SEOOW in full reels, partial reels and cut lengths
  • Welding cable in 1/0 through 4/0 and smaller
  • Festoon and crane cable
  • Submersible pump cable, including flat and round constructions
  • Portable cordage left over from temporary power on a job site

Cut ends and weather

Flexible cable ages visibly. Sun-cracked jackets, flattened coils and abraded ends are all things we need to see, because they change what the material is worth. Photograph the worst reel in the pile, not the best one — a quote based on the best reel always needs revisiting.

What to send

Details that let us quote it properly

  • The type: SOOW, SJOOW, welding, festoon, pump
  • Conductor count and gauge
  • Jacket condition, including cracking or abrasion
  • Footage or coil count
  • Whether the cable has been used outdoors
  • Photos of the tag, the jacket print and the pile

Email photos to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com or add them to the form below. Either way, keep the tag and the jacket legend readable.

Do you buy used portable cord?

Sometimes, depending on condition. Send photos of the actual cable rather than the reel it came on.

Is welding cable priced like building wire?

No. It is valued on copper content and condition, and it is usually sold by weight rather than by the foot.

Quote Flexible cable or portable cord

Choose the category that matches your material, then fill in the size, footage and condition as closely as you can.

1. Who is sending this

2. Where the wire is

3. What the wire is

4. Details and access

5. Photos of the wire

Up to 12 images, 12 MB each. Most phones are set to shoot more than that, so resize if a photo is rejected.

  • A wide shot of the whole stack or row of reels
  • The reel tag or label, photographed flat and readable
  • The jacket legend printed on the wire
  • The cut end, so the conductor and insulation are visible

Submitting does not commit you to anything. If photos will not upload, email them to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com or call (614) 715-3047.

Reels in the way? Send the tag photos.

Tell us the type, size, footage and voltage, and send a few photos of the reels, tags and jacket legend. We will review the material and talk through pricing and logistics.
